Livre is set in Rio’s Rivera District, sitting on the banks of a
man made causeway, belonging to the mega corporation “Câmara Corp”. The
citizens are born with one purpose to work for the corporation in
exchange for living and education. As soon as a person becomes an adult,
they are chipped and assigned to the department based on their
abilities which were monitored at school. The world is the love child of
Ghost in the Shell and 1984.
There are no connections with the outside world and martial law is in place. The past is prohibited and all history books or media are banned; anyone keeping these records is sentenced to death. However, it is still possible to find some old relics on black markets and in trash.
Not everyone is happy with their freedom being limited and their life being controlled by Câmara Corp. The secretly rising movement Espíritos de Liberdade, perceived by corporations as a group of vandals, is disrupting corporations' influence and reprogramming chips in order to live as they want to. Luiz is part of the movement and aims to make a difference for the greater good of the people.
One day he receives a mission, one that will change everything. Luiz is supposed to get to the chip factory as fast as possible and blow up the chip production factory. He travels from his house near the waterway through cooperative skyscrapers to the port which will let him enter the factory. Luiz manages to outrun bullets and makes a hard choice in order to help his people.
